CBD grows and grows
Hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) is projected to be a billion-dollar market in just three years, according to a new report by Brightfield Group. The data company estimates that hemp CBD sales have already hit $170 million in 2016 and a 55% compound annual growth rate over the next five years will cause the market to crack the billion-dollar mark.

A new kind of beer
Lagunitas has always been bold in the kinds of beer it produces and the business decisions it makes. So, of course, they've launched a new IPA made with cannabis terpenes provided by CannaCraft, a California company that makes cannabis vape cartridges called AbsoluteXtracts.

MassRoots has bought yet another cannabis tech company--this time for $12 million. The company? CannaRegs Inc., a technology platform that tracks changes in cannabis regulations and taxes at municipal, state and federal levels.

Netflix debuting cannabis series
File under, "you know cannabis has gone mainstream when." Netflix is launching a new sitcom (or a "pot dispensary comedy"). The plot? Kathy Bates (yes!) employs her newly graduated son and a team of young budtenders to help run her Los Angeles marijuana dispensary. We'll be watching.
