In NorCal? Come to the next CMA meeting
We'd like to invite you to the next Cannabis Marketing Council (CMA) meeting on October 25. The event will be in San Francisco and is worth the trip. Each meeting features networking with other communications pros in the cannabis space and a featured speaker. The October speaker is the CEO of Kiva Confections, Kristi Knoblich, and she'll be talking about the importance of branding and good design in our industry. We hope to see you in San Francisco next month!

Boxful of treats
Natural Cannabis Company is celebrating 28 small farms by releasing a special edition "Best of Harvest" box featuring a gram of each farmer's best marijuana strains. The box, available for a limited time only, will be released on November 12.

"The wine industry has their events around harvest and so do we," says Dona Frank, founder and owner of Natural Cannabis Company. "Small farms tend to get overlooked at all these cup events, especially now that so many are tied to corporate interests. We work exclusively with small farms, so we want to recognize their contributions. These farms are growing some of the best cannabis in the world, right here in the Emerald Triangle."

Half of Arizona says yes
Half of Arizona voters surveyed in a new poll favor legalizing marijuana for recreational use, while a sizable share remain undecided on the November ballot measure, according to a piece in the Arizona Republic. The Arizona Republic/Morrison/Cronkite News poll found "50 percent of registered voters favor legalization, 40 percent oppose the measure and 10 percent are undecided."

Illinois sales spike
According to an AP report, "medical marijuana sales reached more than $3.8 million last month at licensed dispensaries throughout Illinois." September's sales figures "bring the total retail sales in Illinois to $23.5 million since purchasing began in November last year, topping the $20 million mark for the first time." More than 11,000 patients have state approval to buy cannabis legally.
